Seated splendidly on the Shindagha area waterfront of
the beautiful Dubai Creek,
Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum House Dubai was built in 1896.
A very important landmark in the history
of Dubai, Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum House is located
near the Heritage
and Diving Village.
The then residence of Sheikh Saeed, the grandfather
of Sheikh Mohammed, Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum House was
constructed during the reign of Sheikh Maktoum bin Hasher
Al Maktoum.
Until the demise of Sheikh Saeed in the year 1958,
the Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum House Dubai served as the
familial home of the Al Maktoum clan.
The house has now been converted into a museum that
features rare photographs of the family, taken at various
places that have now become popular tourist
attractions of Dubai.
Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum House, a great place for sightseeing
in Dubai, also houses displays of stamps and coins.
All these items provide a good insight into the culture
of Dubai as well as the city's rapid progress.
Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum House Dubai is built in the
traditional Arabic style of design. Made of coral covered
in lime and plaster, this place has a large courtyard
and storeys that house many rooms, verandas and bathrooms.
Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum House is beautifully illuminated
at nighttime and is best known as a symbol of Dubai's
rich architectural heritage.
Sheikh Saeed Al-Maktoum House Dubai is open between
8.30 am and 9 pm from Saturdays to Thursdays. On
Fridays, the House is open between 3 pm and 10 pm. Entry
ticket is priced at 2 Dhs per adult and 1 Dhs per child.
